Simply prior to the Adams Revolution, a poor peasant female (Isild Lebesco) gets there at a wealthy estate to 'wet health care worker'-care for and actually breast feed-the new-born baby of a more privileged and spoiled young woman (Emilie Dequenne). The peasant girl has just given birth herself, but provides to send out her own boy off to the impoverished countryside where a cholera outbreak is flaming.
The new mother in the mean time is estranged from her fresh husband (being from a poor but very pleased noble family members herself) and requires the nursemaid into her self-confidence. She can be not really a dislikeable character, but she will be very younger and naive (significantly like the traditional Marie-Antoinette) and unprepared for her part as spouse and mom, and she quickly crosses the unacceptable class boundaries with her brand-new 'friend'. This increases the ire of her spouse (Gregoire Colin)who is usually usually an unsympathetic incredible who attempts to rape his frigid wife and indulges in lurid intercourse fantasies including the lactating younger health care worker. The maid meanwhile starts to adopt the slogans of the arriving revolution as the whole story spirals towards tragedy. This will somewhat resemble the 'murderous maids' story that has motivated any number of some other France and Indian movies. But that tale was structured on the real-life 20th one hundred year Papin sisters, while this movié-given it't period period-is a much even more a microcosm of the France Revolution where both class and (to a very much lesser extent)gender national politics exploded.
The movie is well-made and impeccably acted. There are usually only a couple issues with it. First, Isild Lebesco ánd Emilie Dequenne are such incredibly beautiful women (who by no means possess their hair or maké-up out óf place) that it's sometimes difficult to purchase them as the wretched figures they show, no matter how outstanding their acting. And while this is certainly not one of Lebesco's more sensual roles (unless lactation ánd breast-feeding actually turn you on), it is a little distracting just how much she provides her bosoms exposed. Actually when she's not really breast nourishing infants-or offering to breast-féed adults-she'h putting on those ridiculously low-cut 18th hundred years peasant dresses. Generally, she can make it quite hard too appear this movie in the vision. I've continually believed Lebesco should win some kind of particular prize for displaying her wonderful nude entire body in practically every part AND being a really talented actress (some various other nominees in that class would end up being Kate Winslet, Eva Environment friendly, and Juno Temple).
But, unlike in a lot her various other tasks, the two things are type of at cross purposes here. This is usually a really good movie that, rather ironically, can be only halted from being a great movie by the pure beauty and sexiness óf its two feminine prospects. But I think that's a fairly dumb thing to protest about.
